what a movie!! Er jeg skræmt ja, føler jeg kan se de der scener for mig igen, der var meget gore. Især den hvor Nikki smasher hende der pigens hovedet igen og igen eewwww. Meget spændene film i forhold til valg folk tager i livet, bear u is a selfish bitchh and u deserve to be eaten by a bear. Er glad for han tog de der piller og døde, men at den rigtige Nikki skal vågne op til realiteten efter hun ikke har kunne styre noget er meget skræmmende. Hele konceptet om at give mennesker 1 wish og de får hvad de vil have er interessant, nogle mennesker er selviske og tænker ikke over konsekvenserne.

It’s not revolutionary in the genre for what it is, a simple premise outstandingly executed, but from where it came from. It’s a reminder of the power of the artist been unhandled by the artificialness of Hollywood and his vision untampered. Its imperfect protagonist makes you shout at the screen in his actions yet it keeps away form the tropes in horror that make the idiot protagonist annoying. He chooses to act stupid, he is a coward first an idiot only in context. It becomes gripping as you fear not only for him but for everyone who he chooses to keep in the shadows about the severity of the situation. And as you slowly stop rooting for Bear, stopping the tragedy of Nikki (who is the real victim) becomes the primary hope the audience stays for. Curry baker finds a way to add to the film a dual nature, where it can be seen as a contemporary timeless story, a classic possession movie, and simultaneously a film very modern in its characters and subtleties.

All hail Curry Barker for taking full advantage of the endless opportunities the horror genre offers to take his fresh concept one notch higher. That’s why I LOVE HORROR. A stunning display of direction, editing and creating a brilliantly understated score that compliments the atmosphere. The unusually appealing aspect ratio adds to the immersive experience, while Inde Navarrette delivers a deadly performance. It’s a shame Academy rarely consider horror performances (Toni Collette for HEREDITARY was a major snub. That was a crime and I still can’t forget). Inde’s performance totally deserves a nomination. One of the best performances in a horror film. Michael Johnston was also really really nuanced.  It’s like everything coming together so perfectly in a low budget horror film. What an achievement.

Still terrifying. Lowkey don’t want to ever watch this again. I don’t know if that says more about me or the movie. I can’t think of another horror movie that fills me with so much dread.

Obsession is a film that reminds us never to toy with black magic or love spells in any form. Even if you use a love spell to make someone fall in love with you, they become nothing more than a puppet controlled by supernatural forces, they are no longer their true self. In the end, neither person finds a happy outcome, because interfering with fate through magic always brings unpredictable karmic consequences. This is one of the few films that portrays this reality in such a brutal yet remarkably accurate way. 10/10.

i love how the movie manages to be viscerally upsetting and deeply unsettling while still weaving in moments of dark comedy. it's dreadfully intense, and every time you think it can't possibly get worse, the next scene somehow takes it up a notch. the jumpscares are effective, but they're never the film's main strength. what makes it so memorable is that its horror is rooted in its themes rather than relying solely on shock value. the sense of dread emerges from the ideas and commentary embedded within the narrative, ultimately leaving a far more enduring impression than any graphic imagery on screen! inde navarrette delivers a stellar performance, and it's genuinely hard to imagine anyone else in the role of nikki. she deserves every bit of recognition she's receiving, and honestly, even more :) also, the uncanny valley makeup was cool asf 🫡

What would be so bad? What's so bad about being with me? I've never been with you, Bear... Just kill me, please. dont let the edge lord horror film purists on twitter and youtube shoo you away from this movie. obsession is a wonderfully horrific indie film about what would happen if "nice guys" had too much power on their hands. nikki's whole incest poem about hansel and gretel was a wonderful allegory for what bear was doing to the real nikki, had to replay that part a few times because of how disturbed i was by it. overall a good movie with an awesome cast and a pretty alright albeit morbid ending.

I liked whatever was wrong with these characters, LOL I just can't get over it, it's been an hour and only thing revolving in my is this movie and that happened with me rarely and this is after a long time. Now I'm getting obsessed with it, for me the most difficult thing is to re-watch any movie purposely and for very few movies I feel that I wanted more so I will re-watch it again... And I'm gald I saw this trailer and the first thought was just to watch it ASAP in theatres, cause I won't have experienced on my laptop screen what I did in a movie hall, surreal!!! Now let's come to creative part, which was the soul of it. Like how the concept was so crazy and how they nailed with whole plot line and direction/cinematography was just perfect for this and fitted really well for me. And if I start talking about how they nailed the psychological & horror part together was amazing and that's what is my cup of tea. And no effing need to mention how well actors did their job, my second favourite thing about movie after psychological twist....

Tylko zyskuje na rewatchu. Dopiero teraz, wiedząc co jest grane na stopie relacji Nikki - Ian, mogłem dostrzec jak zajebiście toksyczny od początku był ten drugi, względem swojego "przyjaciela" Beara. W ogóle teraz jeszcze bardziej doceniam siatkę relacji, jaką stworzył Barker dla tej czteroosobowej grupy, gdzie przecina się ich crashowanie siebie, ale nie tak jak "powinno". Dużo bardziej doceniam też Michaela Johnstona, który co prawda nie miał aż tylu scenariuszowych możliwości do odpalania się co Inde Navarette (o czym zresztą pisałem przy pierwszym obejrzeniu), jednak kiedy już taki moment dostał, to wykorzystywał go w stu procentach i był równie dobry co ona. Sądzę że o ile śmietanka którą spija teraz Inde jest jak najbardziej zasłużona, tak dużo większa jej część powinna skapnąć też na Michaela. Odgrywana przez niego postać z kolei - znowu doceniam jeszcze bardziej, bo mimo iż…
