HERE  LIES  Lᴇꜱᴛᴇʀ Mᴏᴏʀᴇ  ꜰᴏᴜʀ ꜱʟᴜɢꜱ  ꜰʀᴏᴍ ᴀ 44  ɴᴏ ʟᴇꜱ  ɴᴏ ᴍᴏʀᴇ What is it about westerns that feel so romantic? Perhaps more than other periods in history, at least to our “modern” sensibilities. Obviously, the time period has been further simplified and romanticized over the last century and a half, yet even in its own time, it already had a mythic nature to it. Perhaps the western is just the modern version of the classic Greek epic or Arthurian legend.  It could be the allure of a transitional period of American history. On the cusp of the Industrial Revolution but still appealing to man’s desire for discovery and exploration.
