They have covered every nostalgic thing right from the beginning theme music to the later games, cute monsters, sound effects and everything. But writing wise it doesn’t get most of the things right. Watching this with my 6 years old nephew made it better though as he enjoyed it more than me.
This movie is super fast but somehow it kinda works? Just wished they kept the original score.
This script was written by combining hundreds of the top comments in r/nintendo. Nintendo didn’t get the message that 2023 is the year of sincerity. Early in the movie, Mario and Luigi watch their first commercial for their plumbing business and the accents in the commercial are perfect. But when the commercial ends, everyone makes fun of the voices. I honestly think the writer was trying to make some Uber-meta joke about complaints over Pratt’s hiring … like look how bad the voices would be if we used thick Italian accents! Great movies pull you in as the real world melts away. Its kinda hard to do that when you hear Charlie Day’s voice come out of Luigi’s mouth.
