If Ari Aster Directed Under the Silver lake, but with the characters of Swiss Army Man with the personalities of that of Jack Sparrow but serious and mentally deranged and the setting of Hereditary but with a lighthouse and the mythological references of my 7th grade English teacher and the score of a horny Limbo developer, with the darkness of Schindler's List but the lovability of Eighth Grade and the visuals of a Harris Burdick drawing. (If you don't know who he is, look him up.)

太難啃了，舉手投降

Robert Eggers has once again made a movie I love. This really kept me at the edge of my seat... couldn’t wait to see how chaotic and disgusting this story would get. The dialogue is bizarrely good and the acting is simply amazing! Robert Pattinson does great but Willem Dafoe is a freaking monster!

Without a doubt a career best performance from Defoe and Pattinson. I’ll write a full review when I do my Robert Eggers marathon at a later date.

Mój największy problem z tym filmem jest taki, że kiedy Willem Dafoe załącza jeden ze swoich wspaniałych monologów które wypowiada z prędkością światła, to nic nie rozumiem bez napisów, ale nie mogę ich czytać, bo jestem wtedy skupiony na jego cudownej twarzy. W ogóle niesamowicie się cieszę, że mogę żyć w tych samych czasach co ten facet. Jego rola tutaj przez wielu jest uważana za najlepszą rolę w XXI wieku w ogóle, a słyszałem nawet głosy o najlepszej roli w historii kina, i chociaż sam wstrzymuję się z tak mocnymi tezami, to jednocześnie nie miałbym odwagi im jakoś stanowczo zaprzeczyć. Pattinson niewiele mu ustępuje, i tutaj już sam mogę rzec z czystym sumieniem - to jego życiówka (przynajmniej do anno domini 2025). Moje ulubione sceny pod tym względem, to kiedy panowie są pijani (bo oni nie grają, naprawdę są pijani, nawet jeśli nie mają alkoholu we krwi). Zdecydowanie popisami…
