This movie inspired me to read more than watch the film itself. For that, I’ll give it credit. Oh, and Thomas Chalamet.
Wes Anderson at his most Wes Anderson in my opinion. A film about painting, death, small bouts of violence, and perfectionism in everything. Most importantly about everything in writing. Different aspect ratios, different colors, different styles, all comimg together to create one of the most visually appealing movies I have ever seen, and certainly the most interesting use of Christoph Waltz, Willem Dafoe, and Edward Norton. All used sparingly for whatever reason. Watch at a local Cinema on the smallest screening room they have, if possible, and enjoy with Trader Joes' Chocolate Covered Mints & Sparkling Honeycrisp Apple Juice for the most authentic experience one can get.
Wes Anderson always reminds me there’s more things that you can do with your screen space! The text, different aspect ratios and more are all pretty cool! Even with all the style, the movie doesn’t lose its substance, I just wish it had more of a connective tissue, to make it feel less like reading a menu (of a bunch of good food) and more like eating a sandwich! Maybe I’m just not the biggest fan of anthologies
Amazing theatrical scenery! I've been meaning to see this for so long and I finally did. ++ Awww. I just completed watching Gilmore Girls and reminded me of The Yale Daily News... hahaha and albeit too far from this, I just enjoyed journalism at work.
