I want to be just like him when I grow up!!! ...I'm talking about Lex Luthor of course
After reading All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison, I was recently revitalized in my hope that heroes don’t have to be grim dark to be effective. This movie proves it’s also possible for a hero to be authentic on film, almost a century after the character’s inception. James Gunn and cast did a great job hitting high marks along all the flagpoles I can only imagine the studio and market research enforced. And the political/war storyline felt real (despite being a billionaire backed idea… oh, wait) and even helped blur the line between what’s realistic to our world and what’s realistic to the DC world. The Ma and Pa Kent moments almost made me cry. I kid of wish my mom and dad were like that. They seem like they support their son in all the right ways. It’s very hopeful and the movie made me feel hopeful. In real life and for the creative direction these DC movies are going in.
Hope.
This shit means something to me man 💔
Pure James Gunn’s movie in every sense. Very unique take on SUPERMAN compared to whatever we got in the last 2 decades. It’s kinda refreshing to see Superman being presented in the most vulnerable way possible, that actually strengthens the story. Man of steel can also self-doubt and show his weaker side but that’s exactly why I feel James Gunn redefined Superman. The way it all came out together by the end was really beautiful. Action sequences were all fun to watch but my favourite has to be the pocket universe sequence - Visuals were James Gunn-ish with brilliant music and the humour lands too. Really liked it. PS - The only thing that didn’t make me give it 4 stars was that I just wanted more. It kinda felt empty at times. As much as I was loving the scenes, there was this feeling of “I needed more depth”. Needed bit more gravitas in the detailing of certain scenes, whether in the action or drama.
Still important. Still incredible. James Gunn is speaking to the people in the back, and I hope they’re listening. Love is punk rock.
Beck Bennett gives the performance of his life. I just wish he didn't have a CGI mustache
Good one, recomend
this is what real punk rock is about and yes you can fight me on this
Poor Jimmy

95/100 A superb official start to the new DCU. After the oversaturation of anti-heroes in the 2010s, James Gunn brings us what people have been clamoring for since the turn of the decade: sheer unbridled hope. First off, I'd like to mention how great the casting is for this film. Everyone embodies their character really well, even if they're relatively unknown like the Daily Planet crew or Mr. Terrific. However, David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane are the obvious highlights. The two characters themselves are very well-written. Their relationship is believable and they have good chemistry. It also provides good contrast as Clark is more empathetic and trusting while Lois is his foil, having more misgivings about trust and being more "cool". The supporting cast is also cool, though I felt Hawkgirl was kind of weak. My favourite, though, had to be wisecracking…
In my 2nd watch: I enjoyed it really better than earlier!! The start to the universe is unusual and difficult in first watch to catch up to.... There were tons of information were thrown at you since the first moment of the movie, but it shows james gunn did a really good homework and took it seriously, and i'm really impressed with him after watching this movie, he did a wonderful job in writing (for a movie and a universe too), which lacks these days in superhero movies. The superhero moments were less, that was the most problematic part in first watch for me, but action scenes were good when they were shown, and i must appreciate krypto's either fight scenes or when he is moving in any frame, it was delightful for me. Another thing which was delightful for me was the chemistry between Superman and Lois. btw for me this lois is most beautiful from live action superman movies :p Nice portrayal of lex and side characters too, no complaints!!
Sceny…
