The hype for this movie defiantly weakened the experience for me. This movie was really good and the animation was absolutely phenomenal. Just watching some of the things happen on screen was a monumental experience and it had some of the most visually exhilarating and creative aspects of animation I’ve ever seen. I also really enjoyed the beginning of the movie where they build Miles’s character and give the audience more about him. He’s a really great character and the conflict between him and his dad was really interesting. The action scenes are also absolutely fantastic and really show the effort the animators put in. My problems lie with how overly complex the story is. For me the first movie had big stakes but it still felt really easy to follow and had a personal journey. This one felt way too big and had a really complex plot that made the film a lot less engaging from a character perspective which is what I love about spider man. Still I think this was a great setup for the third movie
Did the sound mixing sound bad for anyone else? Or was that just me at the Drafthouse. Should have seen it earlier in IMAX. Loved the animation of course. Lot of fan service. Lot of product placement, which I found interesting in an animation. The film opening credits happen, then something like 15-20 minutes pass and then more opening credit come back. It really through me off.

Reassistir esse filme me fez abrir os olhos e perceber o que eu neguei da primeira vez que eu assisti: ele supera muito o primeiro filme. Acho que de início eu tinha preferido o primeiro filme a esse pois ele tem mais coisas acontecendo e esse em certas partes é bem parado. Isso não faz o filme ser ruim, muito pelo contrário. Muito interessante como a animação (que já era boa) melhorou e como usaram as cores de forma linda aqui. Todo o filme é lindo e criativo do início ao fim. O começo é épico, com a Gwen sendo a protagonista dessa parte inicial e mostrando sua relação com seu pai e como ela não consegue se abrir e confiar em ninguém. A primeira luta é simplesmente linda, com o Miguel e a Gwen enfrentando o Abutre. Miguel é um antagonista bem desenvolvido e sua motivação é válida. #MyShit CERTIFIED This is the TRUE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. MCU should be ashamed after watching this, although there are references to MCU in this, spider-verse is completely separate from MCU’s multiverse. Still intriguing how they will connect this in Sony’s future stand-alone Spider-Man films or even MCU studio’s films. Epic animation just like first film and scintillating action set pieces, drama and overall usage of multiverse concept with exhilarating music. Jackpot for Spider-Man fans. What a mind bending journey this was. Best Spider-Man movie ever. Wow.
Still really good. Obviously not as strong as the first film inherently due to the fact it’s a middle film In a trilogy. My score will probably go up whenever the third comes out and the story can be completed.
Seeing all the different animation styles was awesome. I enjoyed Gwen’s watercolor world the most, but Spider-Punk looked cool too. This movie was similar to the first but with enhancements that improved the style. This time, I could almost feel the comic pages turn as you switch to new scenes. I’d love to see all the shots laid out. I also enjoyed the story. It hit the right emotional beats and I was glad that Spider Gwen was well developed. The bad: this movie was entirely too long. I’ve been watching a lot of shitty 80s movies and they are so good with a 90 minute runtime. Give me an hour and Final Cut Pro and I can edit SMATU to perfection.
