Joe Gardner is a middle school teacher with a love for jazz music. After a successful audition at the Half Note Club, he suddenly gets into an accident that separates his soul from his body and is transported to the You Seminar, a center in which souls develop and gain passions before being transported to a newborn child. Joe must enlist help from the other souls-in-training, like 22, a soul who has spent eons in the You Seminar, in order to get back to Earth.

Jerry So what do you think you'll do? How are you gonna spend your life? Joe I'm not sure. But I do know... I'm going to live every minute of it.
Ya like Jazz?
畫面和音樂很棒 背景設定有點過多,劇情轉折也有點快,不好消化
22 takes up a very big space in my heart right now
literalmente o sentido da vida. esse filme me lembra de apreciar as pequenas coisas da vida. e me fez acreditar que independente do que eu estou fazendo, minha vida tem valor.
We try so hard to find the purpose of our lives but we all forget to do the most basic stuff and that is living the life as you see it, experience it and getting that joy in the lightest moment your life throws at you. This is the the thing SOUL gorgeously tells us with an animation that feels so unique especially the beyond earth characters and mini souls. PIXAR is master in such an inspiring storytelling, adding their distinct touch that is special. This in Particular reminded me of COCO as that too was related to music and adding brilliant beyond living characters (Life and death concept) who are dead with an inspiring central topic about remembering your family even if they are not present with you on earth. Basically PIXAR is making films on “How to live a life” without being too cliched and always doing something different. This is THE PIXAR I have always known. Thank you PIXAR.
Since I started trying to write more thought-out reviews at the beginning of 2025, I have sometimes used this platform as a diary or journal of sorts to write out my feelings after seeing a movie rather than my thoughts on the film itself. I suppose I could simply write these thoughts in my notes app and keep them to myself, but seeing how much I crave connection, interaction, and community, I choose to put them here. In a perfect world, I would stick to writing about films specifically, but there are enough times when I have more thoughts and feelings because of a film that I do about a film. I talked in one of my train dreams reviews and maybe elsewhere about how I wanted to make music. Like Joe Gardener, that was my dream. I thought it was my purpose. But I was never brave enough to even really try.
This hit parts of me.
Definitely the best movie Pixar has made. Such a beautiful and emotional movie gave amazing life lessons. Live life how you want to .
3/5 Visually stunning, the great beyond, the Jerrys, Terry, the zone, the black and white outline places, loved it; it has some of the most striking elements in all the Pixar movies. The story, although it has a good message, felt recycled and predictable, the "egotistical protagonist redeems himself and turns good in the last minute" is something that I don't like at all and Pixar has done it multiple times.
