I found it to be slightly better this time around. The soundtrack is amazing. Did it deserve to win best picture over Marty Supreme? Personally, I think no. But that doesn’t mean this film is bad, it is truly amazing.

DiCaprio is the greatest actor of all time

One great performance after another  One great scene after another  One great background score after another  One great shot after another  One great character after another And that CLIMAX!!!! One of the most uniquely shot highway scenes ever. The way highway is built makes the scene even more interesting. Loved the way camera was used for that. So immersive. Most of the shots are already Oscar worthy.  Background music is one of the major features of this film. It flows through the scenes so well and it’s not even close to generic just like how overall film is written. Leo and Sean Penn are my pick as the best performers. The other supporting actors were brilliant too from Teyana to Chase infiniti to even Benicio in his small role.  Easily one of the best films of the year. Oscar will chase this undoubtedly and not the other way around.

Paul Thomas Anderson covers the horrors of modern America in a blanket of humor and absurdity. And much like the Keystone Kops or the nazis of Hogan’s Heroes or Indiana Jones, Lockjaw is depicted as ignorant, imbecilic, and ultimately incompetent. The movie rightfully gives him no power and makes him a complete joke. His beliefs and desires are just as laughable and idiotic as any real-world counterpart he shares. We must never give these people the fear and power they crave.  It is somewhat surprising to me that a movie this blatantly political and critical would get made and put out by any major studio. This film’s message is clear and pulls no punches while still being incredibly palatable. Every actor and role is perfectly suited for this story, and every moment is executed brilliantly.  This is a movie made by a specific person for a specific group of people. It is, to me, shockingly political and incredibly powerful. An impeccably crafted journey that truly shows that life is just ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER.

Viva la Revolution

i honestly DID not expect this to be a good movie, but it surprised me. some of the chase scenes were exciting, though i thought i’d be more enthralled. PTA is at his best when he stretches tension for ages......like i was gripping the edge of my seat for a whole hour during the climax of magnolia. here, i only felt that intensity in short bursts. acting-wise, penn is solid, leo’s even better, but del toro completely steals the show!!!!! people will probably rave about penn’s villain, but for me it lacked depth and leaned too hard on physical quirks. on the flip side, the cinematography and score were excellent, and there were plenty of laughs sprinkled in. overall, i don’t think it’s the masterpiece critics are hyping it up to be, but it’s definitely a very entertaining big-budget art film.

Best theater experience ever.

PTA does it again

took me 3 times to get past the first 20 mins

Had a great time watching it, The pace of the movie was non-linear and sometime it was difficult to what to feel about it, i mean like the way story was flowing it was just not for me i think but really liked the characters and how unpredictable things were, lol but i think this was more of a style of director to present this way and this suited for good but not like i would be looking for something like this and watch more... That sensei was my fav. character after Leo's and the interactions between characters were the part i liked the most, and how leo's character was after the time jump, man it was indeed hilarious!! and about plot, that was something i didn't expected it to be the core of the movie and it was really interesting from that perspective...., maybe i didn't get few things if there was something deeper in this but on surface it was intriguing though.

Zacznę od tego, że napędzany hurraoptymistycznym odbiorem pokazów prasowych i ogólnym buzzem wokół tego filmu, zawiesiłem mu poprzeczkę w najwyższym możliwym punkcie, czyli na poziomie arcydzieła. Nie przeskoczył jej, ale mimo tego był to bardzo dobry skok. OBAA dowozi na naprawdę wielu poziomach. Dowozi jako komedia, gdzie oprócz NIESAMOWITEGO Leo Di Caprio (o nim zaraz) bryluje Benicio del Toro. Nie tylko rzuca on zabawnymi tekstami, nie tylko jest zabawnym-cool sensei, ale przede wszystkim ma tę pieprzoną scenę tańca przy zatrzymaniu, którą wielbię ❤️. Dowozi jako film akcji, bo tak jak w zwiastunie nie bardzo było widać, na co poszła tak duża kasa, tak w samym filmie pełnym eksplozji i widowiskowych strzelanin już to widać. Chociaż przyznam że liczyłem na jakąś walkę wręcz, której nie dostałem. No i w końcu film dowozi jako dramat, głównie na linii ojciec-córka i córka-mit…
