步調挺慢但我覺得可接受 結尾實在太有趣了XD

Guillermo has made something that I want to call as a sophisticated soap opera. Why soap opera because the characterisation, the drama, the things that happen that I already know going to come but just that this is sophisticated in terms of everything. The look, beautiful atmospheric noir feel, the cinematography, Bradley’s performance, worthy-of-my-time screenplay all brings in that sophistication that the story needed. Otherwise this cud have well been an usual classic soap. I haven’t watched the original but this surely is the story for those times. It may not hold too well for modern age and may come across as “Seen-before”, but Guillermo’s firm focus on making this vastly engaging (if not distinctive) made it a brilliant watch for me. And those last few seconds of the final scene  - Wow.

What a journey

It's funny how people's own discontent and greediness will put them to the place they avoided in the first place. Bite more than you can chew and you will choke. I also didn't know this was by GDT ☠️ Great film!

Cudownie odwrócona sinusoida ludzkich wzlotów i upadków, która przeciwnie do większości filmów z taką konstrukcją zaczyna od dołka i na dołku kończy, a to co najlepsze (z perspektywy bohatera) wpycha w środek. Del Toro pokazuje, że kiedy upadamy i potrzebujemy pomocnej dłoni, najgorsze wcale nie jest to, kiedy nikt nam jej nie poda. Najgorszym koszmarem jest to, kiedy ktoś ją nam podaje, żeby wykorzystać to przeciwko nam. Film bardzo cyniczny, w którym na dobrą sprawę brak jednoznacznie czystej moralnie postaci, bo nawet Molly grana przez Rooney Marę, której do tego miana najbliżej, nadal bez skrupułów wykorzystuje ludzką naiwność. Oprócz niej na ekranie same tuzy aktorstwa i na szczęście mimo mnogości postaci, każdy miał coś do zagrania, chociaż Willema Dafoe przygarnąłbym trochę więcej. Bardzo podoba mi się totalna zmiana scenografii, która następuje wraz ze zmianą miejscówki i…
