What is this fragile thing we call life? What does it mean? What is it meant to mean? How can we make the most of it? How can we go further beyond of what is even physically capable to find the answer?

Watched it after reading the book so my opinions are definitely not 💯 accurate, but I still think it’s important to look at it from both a film perspective and as an adaptation.  The movie is beautifully made. The cinematography is stunning with some of the most gorgeous shots I have seen. The scene with the whale is avatar level shit. The story itself is interesting enough on its own and captures the main aspects of the book pretty accurately, but personally I feel that it lacked a lot of the nuances of the book. The first 45 minutes are really good but they are too short in length and take away slot of necessary aspects of the opening, mainly the religious symbolism and adds in a pointless romance. The second Half is fine but not much really happens other than the breathtaking visuals, the ending is probably my least favorite part of the movie as it’s my favorite part of the book. In…

This speaks to me in whole layers of Spirituality. I can watch it again and again and still, learn something new. Well done.
