If this were a chocolate bar, it would be a Sweetart. It's not a chocolate bar. It's sweet and unsurprisingly sour and tart. Exactly what you would expect, but somehow surprisingly strong. Every flavor hits you in ways you wouldn't expect. Even if, when you break it down, it's just a lemon flavored piece of chalk. Everything is so exaggerated, yet so grounded. It reminds you of a time when life was so confusing, so odd, so complicated, and so lonely. So many loose ends like, what flavor really is this piece of chalk? And in the end, you learn that the flavors are just so pathetic, but you can't help but put another in your mouth. You want to see these stupid flavors go on more adventures, even if they'll just keep crashing again and again.

Feels like looking directly at a memory

Firstly I am sorry PTA (One of my favourites)  I get all the goodness of this latest PTA’s movie - lead characters even if there is a age gap, they are still somewhat great together and that’s what movie tried to tell. Some part of it was fun and breezy. They are messed up characters trying to get their shit together in lives but they sense some special connection whenever they are together. I get all these. And yes visually stunning and cool performances. But what were those sub-plots that happened around them that didn’t much add anything to their relationship or even a story as a whole. Some of it were poorly written. It was like a filler scenes just to add up to the duration or to make it funny. Don’t get me wrong, I am totally into stuffs that does something which is beyond known rom-com tropes. PTA did exactly that but it didn’t work for me here in the end.  Because of this I really couldn’t love this film and couldn’t totally connect with their messy relationship or feel anything to be honest. I get what it was trying to do but…….But Ending was lovely and that’s it. I am surely in a minority who didn’t love this as much as others. Disappointing. 

P.T.A. zbudował tym filmem istny wehikuł czasu, który zabiera widza do lat 70-tych. Chociaż nie żyłem w tamtych latach i nigdy nie byłem w Kalifornii, to jestem niemalże pewien, że wyglądało to właśnie tak jak w Licorice Pizza. Światła neonów, kryzys ropy, na ulicach masa barwnych osobistości. Barwnych osobistości, do których z pewnością można zaliczyć parę głównych bohaterów, których naprawdę łatwo polubić i im kibicować, a i niektóre postacie poboczne przykuwają uwagę, chociażby świetnie zagrany przez Bradleya Coopera ekscentryczny i narcystyczny partner Barbry Streisand (sand, like on the beach!). Na papierze więc wszystko mi niby gra i buczy, tylko że to mój drugi seans tego filmu, i drugi raz mam ten sam problem z nim - nie za bardzo mnie on angażuje. Przy pierwszym seansie, który zapomniałem miesiąc później, dosyć często wybiegałem myślami gdzieś poza to co oglądam, i tym razem…
