Killers of the Flower Moon2023

Martin Scorsese has done it again.  This is one of his quietly chilling dramas. Like 206 minutes of slow brewing powerful drama with a screenplay that is masterfully watertight. This is not a suspense or a mystery film as few thought it to be. Because the inciting incident happens right in front of our eyes. We get the sense of evil present in almost every scene and we get the sense of dreadfulness whenever we see Osage Indians once we know what exactly is happening to them. It’s the larger dirty motive of extreme whites and their oppression that is explored throughout and it happens in a way that takes its own time. It is trying to slowly give the same “Helpless” feeling that Osage Indians felt here. That unfortunate confused state. Leo’s character starts with a mental state just like us (The viewers) who is getting into a new horizon and then meticulously it gets into a questionably chilling territory that beautifully unravels through the eyes of Leo’s character and supporting characters. I gave up finding any silver lining in this story. Tragic yet Scorsese added few black comedy elements here and there.  Robert de Niro, Leo, Lily and many others are in sublime form. Not a single loose performance here. No brainer Oscar nominations in many categories.
