Scorses-a-thon The Abridged Scorsese Can you find the wolves in this picture? They called him the king of the Osage Hills He went and got everybody killed Now they talk about the weather like it's judgment coming soon For the killers of the Flower Moon This is it. For about three months, I have been watching through Martin Scorsese’s filmography, and we have finally reached the end. And what an end. This is truly the culmination of everything that has come before. Not just his crime films but also his tragic, heartfelt films and everything. It all leads to this. While The Irishman was a love letter to the films that made him MARTIN SCORSESE, this The Killers of the Flower Moon is the true finale. And it very may well be his best film. The character of Ernest Burkhart is very similar to that of Frank Sheeran. Men who become machines doing the dirty work that others won’t. And yet Ernest is so much worse and so much more tragic because many times he isn’t the one who has to get his hands dirty, but he still is part of it, and he knows better. Maybe he is a simpleton who just rolls over and does whatever the king says, and I would agree with that if he didn’t stand up to his uncle and admit everything he’d done and if he didn’t lie to mollie about the insulin. He knew better and he did it anyway. Be sure your sins will find you out. Incredible, incredible performances top to bottom. Everything about this is a masterpiece. There is not a doubt in my mind that this should have won over Oppenheimer. The fact that this did not get a single win from any of its ten nominations is ludicrous. The fact that Emma Stone won best actress over Lily Gladstone is also just insulting. Such a beautiful movie and without a doubt one of Scorsese’s best. My heart breaks over what happened to these people. There is so much evil in the world, and it takes and takes, and you can’t stop it. It only recedes at its own volition. There is no hope for peace in this life. "Mrs. Mollie Cobb, 50 years of age, passed away at eleven o'clock Wednesday night in her home. She was a full-blood Osage. She was buried in the old cemetery in Gray Horse beside her father, her mother, her sisters, and her daughter." I loved the ending. I grew up listening to old radio dramas and comedy shows, so to see this portrayal was really cool. And then the man himself steps out. And it truly feels like a curtain call. Maybe we will get other films, but that will just be an epilogue. This is the finale. Thank you to everyone who went on this journey with me. It’s been incredible, and I think these movies have genuinely changed me as a person. I really hope to be a kinder, truer person. But this is not the end of my director watch-throughs. And for our next director, we have to go BACK…
