I never expected that kill bill would make me cry. I didn’t love part one on my first viewing. I liked the things I liked the first time more but still think everything up to the bride leaving for Japan is kind of weak. I don’t love the look or really anything that happens up to the introduction of O-Ren. But from that point on it really cooks. It’s incredibly fun, funny, and schlocky. Supernatural samurai moves and gore galore. In part one I don’t really care about the story so I only really like the cool moments. But part 2 works almost completely. It definitely feels different from part one but once we got to the training sequence I was all in. Not as action-heavy overall but better writing and performance. And I was having a great time ready for the final conflict and then boom. The bomb dropped.
