King T'Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country's new leader. However, T'Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne by factions within his own country as well as without. Using powers reserved to Wakandan kings, T'Challa assumes the Black Panther mantle to join with ex-girlfriend Nakia, the queen-mother, his princess-kid sister, members of the Dora Milaje (the Wakandan 'special forces') and an American secret agent, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

I remember when this movie came out, people went absolutely nuts for it. I never got around to watching it, and it felt like I was committing a crime by not doing it. However, this is one of those movies where the hype was absolutely wild initially, but slowly it did start to die down, and now most people wouldn't consider it as amazing as they once did. And yeah.. while I really liked it and I will appreciate the fact that this movie is extremely important and at times very unique in comparison to the MCU, I don't think it's something that blew me away. I mainly loved Tchalla and Killmonger. Both are some of my favorite protagonists and antagonists in the MCU. Tchalla is very compelling and likable. Even when he does something wrong, you always get the sense that he is doing it out of good reason. His personal conflict in this movie is really great. It feels genuine and even pretty…
Black Panther has a really compelling villain, remarkable production and soundtrack! I wish the protagonist was a little more defined, but that doesn’t mean the movie is terrible
