Black Panther2018

I remember when this movie came out, people went absolutely nuts for it. I never got around to watching it, and it felt like I was committing a crime by not doing it. However, this is one of those movies where the hype was absolutely wild initially, but slowly it did start to die down, and now most people wouldn't consider it as amazing as they once did. And yeah.. while I really liked it and I will appreciate the fact that this movie is extremely important and at times very unique in comparison to the MCU, I don't think it's something that blew me away. I mainly loved Tchalla and Killmonger. Both are some of my favorite protagonists and antagonists in the MCU. Tchalla is very compelling and likable. Even when he does something wrong, you always get the sense that he is doing it out of good reason. His personal conflict in this movie is really great. It feels genuine and even pretty deep. He's honestly one of my characters in the whole series. The same goes for Killmonger. Usually, the villain is the weakest part of a Marvel movie, but Killmonger was awesome. He was extremely badass and threatening, but also very tragic and even a little sympathetic. Plus Micheal B Jordon is very cool in the role. I also really enjoyed some of the visual elements in the movie, and I thought there were some very creative shots and beautiful locations here and there. I even didn't mind the action. A lot of people say that the CGI was bad, but I didn't mind it that much. It could have been better in a few places, but overall not terrible IMO. But I have a couple of gripes with the movie. I thought the side characters were all pretty forgettable, sometimes the tone feels a little uneven, and I thought that the political message felt pretty half-baked and doesn't really go anywhere. Overall I really enjoyed this movie, but I just don't find it an amazing miracle as some others do, and I can't even explain why.
