I really thought after watching this for a few minutes that this would be like any other sadistic story of a teenager who has cancer with all the familiar tropes and predictability. But as and when the film starts getting into its grove, there was something special about this. Yes, it did have similar coming-off age and cancer character tropes but what was so special about this is the way it’s all written and beautifully presented. Also at times the lead character’s response to some of the stuffs was like breaking the stereotypes and then writing gets even better when it comes to her parents and the way they react to her daughter loving a guy who is a drug addict. It suddenly felt all so fresh within those similar tropes. And the soundtrack is as beautiful as it was presented.
