Horrid controller acting
The part about Russian people being obsessed with meaning of names is really accurate
Ani finalmente Anora.
Watched a movie after 50 days or so and couldn’t have asked for a better start. It’s literally everything that I had not hoped for. Expectation was - Feel good unusual romantic drama but what I got - Unusual, ofcourse but constantly surprising with the way it was written. Never expected it to go “madcap comedy” way and the way it escalates into this was absolutely hilarious/bonkers. Mikey Madison was brilliant but equally the whole Russian gang were too good - especially Garnick and Toros characters were massively entertaining. Sean Baker has also become one of those special directors who rarely disappoints. Best thing about this film is how seamlessly it escalates into a Madcap comedy from Romantic and then hitting us hard in those last few moments Chef’s kiss SPOILERS BELOW - Only thing that made me not give it 5/5 was that, after the 3rd act, the spontaneity in the comedy turned…

Is it romance or comedy?? It's neither funny nor romantic
I've been seeing and hearing good things about the movie ever since it came out and I finally watched it. I enjoyed the movie surprisingly; despite what I consider a lackluster beginning. The movie slowly gained momentum as it progressed, mostly due to its characters who felt very alive and energetic. The movie is about a prostitute that gets engaged to a man-child, but their union turns out to be very problematic for a handful of people. Mostly the boys, Ivan’s parents Who were the driving force behind this rejection. Despite being absent as characters for pretty much the whole movie, their presence and weight is heavily felt and expressed, a rejection born out of a sentiment of pride, as the parents reject Ani not for the person she is, but for an idea she represents. As she not only a prostitute but also American. Which brought shame to the Russian billionaire family, as the mother…
