Kogonada’s second film which is a dystopian sci fi drama may contain stuffs like techno-sapiens, memory bank, clone kids and all these futuristic stuffs yet Kogonada has managed to create sci fi world which is the most minimalistic, subtle and absolutely heart touching experience in every sense. I have never been this attached to a character that is a Bot or an AI. Think of an AI in HER, Ex-machina or even the Blade runner. The main root of philosophy that affects human beings lies in them and guides humans in some way or the other (Bad or good) in all the movies I mentioned including After Yang where it’s deeply rooted and influence humans to look at their own lives in a different way through an AI’s memory bank. Such a beautiful thought because usually we don’t see AI as a being that could understand life and live life more than us. It’s not easy to replace one’s best memories or…
