Miser Ebenezer Scrooge is awakened on Christmas Eve by spirits who reveal to him his own miserable existence, what opportunities he wasted in his youth, his current cruelties, and the dire fate that awaits him if he does not change his ways. Scrooge is faced with his own story of growing bitterness and meanness, and must decide what his own future will hold: death or redemption.

Zemeckis-fest Decided to do his two Christmas films back-to-back. I think The Polar Express is definitely the easier watch of the two, but this is still good. I don’t have a particular favorite adaptation of this story (aside from Mickey’s Christmas Carol), so I think I’m as likely to watch this as much as any other version. There is an unsettling nature to this, but I feel like it really works and makes it feel more visceral than it otherwise would. And like The Polar Express, Zemeckis really attempts to use the animation to its fullest capabilities.
