The defense and the prosecution have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young Spanish-American is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. What begins as an open and shut case soon becomes a mini-drama of each of the jurors' prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused, and each other.

What a slapping movie in every sense imaginable. My bad, punching movie... well, HITTING movie imaginable
12 white dudes arguing for 96 minutes. One of the greatest movies ever made
Ok! It actually turned out to be as good as i thought. "Well it’s not easy to stand alone against the ridicule of others” Absolute cinema.👍🏻
This film is what happens when a camera, writer, and actor all come together in perfect harmony. It’s deceptively simple, delightfully brief, and devastatingly impactful. How much prejudice can impact a decision that prejudice should have no stake in? Prejudice, whether it be against race, age, or anything else, always distorts the truth to suit its own narrative. This is probably tied with Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and Taps as one of the most important American pictures ever made. Aside from all that, as well, the film is incredibly shot. If this movie were made today, I strongly believe it would not have an ounce of the gravitas this film shows in its camera work alone.
big thanks to my political science prof for introducing me to the absolute gem of a movie! who knew a bunch of middle-aged men sweating in a room could be this entertaining? no car chases, no dramatic music.....just passive aggression, eye-rolls, and one guy slowly dismantling everyone's nonsense with a calm voice and killer logic :) it’s like watching a group project spiral until one person actually reads the assignment.
99/100 Complete and utter masterpiece at every level. There are so many films I say that for, but this is where I mean it perhaps the most. One of the best and most engaging films I have ever watched. The characters will almost always be the best part of a good film, and its no different here. Each juror has their own distinct personality, and even though the main focus is obviously on the eighth and third juror as the respective protagonist and antagonist, everyone feels like the protagonist in their own way. The dialogue is great as well. Its both realistic as well as managing to make it feel intriguing. Its just one and a half hours of people talking, but it feels genuinely as engaging as any other thriller, even if we're just in a courtroom. Of course, this is all thanks to the people behind the film. Sidney Lumet knows how to shoot the film and directs these performances really…
Trodde verkligen inte att jag skulle uppskatta den här, jag hade fel. Trots att filmen gjordes för snart 70 år sedan är det svårt hitta några fel i den, en tidlös klassiker som aldrig kommer gå ur tiden.
A bunch of people just talking, but still, I never found it boring, even when I watched The Dark Knight Rises just before it. It held my attention more than Batman.
What is a man... I’ve watched so many films with “the man” at its center, each one promises, in its own way, an encounter with “man.” But after so many faces, gestures, voices, and fates, the word itself has become hollow, What is a man? Through cinema,i found an endless repetition of men, broken, noble, absurd and cruel, yet none define it, it dissects it. Each film gives a fragment, but none complete the picture. Together, they draw the shape of a man, but never the man himself. Perhaps that’s what fascinates me, is the impossibility of summing up the human condition in one definition. To be a man is to remain incomplete.
- Bright? He's a common ignorant slob. He don't even speak good English.
