12 Angry Men1957

This film is what happens when a camera, writer, and actor all come together in perfect harmony. It’s deceptively simple, delightfully brief, and devastatingly impactful. How much prejudice can impact a decision that prejudice should have no stake in? Prejudice, whether it be against race, age, or anything else, always distorts the truth to suit its own narrative. This is probably tied with Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and Taps as one of the most important American pictures ever made.  Aside from all that, as well, the film is incredibly shot. If this movie were made today, I strongly believe it would not have an ounce of the gravitas this film shows in its camera work alone.  Everyone knows this movie is amazing, but if somehow you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and please watch it. You won’t regret it. If you do, well, that probably says more about you than the movie.
