In 16th century Japan, peasants Genjuro and Tobei sell their earthenware pots to a group of soldiers in a nearby village, in defiance of a local sage's warning against seeking to profit from warfare. Genjuro's pursuit of both riches and the mysterious Lady Wakasa, as well as Tobei's desire to become a samurai, run the risk of destroying both themselves and their wives, Miyagi and Ohama.

I’ve always been really interested in Japan’s history but never really did much research on it. This film takes place during Sengoku period. From what I have read, a lot of different warlords were fighting for territories. This Sengoku period started around 1467 and ended around 1600. This film focuses on characters who are just common people with dreams. It takes a man’s ambitions and his dreams and villainizes it. How out of selfish reasons and greed we can cause so much destruction and damage to others. Not just strangers but also our own loved ones. There’s a lot of supernatural stuff going on too which I found to be very interesting. Really fucked up ending. Sad shit
