Young teenager Sam Witwicky becomes involved in the ancient struggle between two extraterrestrial factions of transforming robots – the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. Sam holds the clue to unimaginable power and the Decepticons will stop at nothing to retrieve it.

It feels like for the first half there are two different movies happening concurrently, and then the latter half is trying to push those disparate pieces together. I think with a different edit, it could be a much better film. The script is terrible, and it feels like it was written by an alien. Tropes and clichés abound. The only real plus is the Transformers in and of themselves, but they never really get a chance to shine. I’m surprised a sequel got made, let alone an entire franchise. Here’s hoping the second film is better.
