was going to rate this 3 stars then I changed to 4 but second half made me rethink my choices and give it 5 stars. I'm also biased because transformers was my favorite movie franchise, I love bumblebee and optimus prime so much. It feels like for the first half there are two different movies happening concurrently, and then the latter half is trying to push those disparate pieces together. I think with a different edit, it could be a much better film. The script is terrible, and it feels like it was written by an alien. Tropes and clichés abound. The only real plus is the Transformers in and of themselves, but they never really get a chance to shine. I’m surprised a sequel got made, let alone an entire franchise. Here’s hoping the second film is better.
