Arthur and his two children inherit his uncle's estate: a glass house that serves as a prison to twelve ghosts. When the family, accompanied by a nanny and an attorney, enter the house they find themselves trapped inside an evil machine 'designed by the Devil and powered by the dead' to open the Eye of Hell. Aided by a ghost hunter and his rival, a ghost rights activist out to set the ghosts free, the group must do what they can to get out of the house alive.

* “I sure as hell hope I don't bleed to death. That, would suck*.” The above quote is funny in retrospect because Dennis was bludgeoned to death by the most dangerous opps in the movie. The production value was good for ‘01 not gonna lie. This is also a remake and remakes usually improve the story or just turn out to be completely shite. I haven’t made my verdict as i watched this movie independent of the original film. The acting was literally just ok. Tony Shalhoub and the kids do just all right. Dennis Rafkin was entertaining, annoying & endearing at the same time and Cyrus Kriticos was cartoonishly evil. F. Murray Abraham & Matthew Lillard hammed it up pretty good. I can’t say much of the score because the jumpscares overshadowed it and when the score did go crazy it was jarring. It would be like waking up from a night of reckless drinking and then having someone scream in your ear as you begin to wake up. The lore of the 13 Ghosts was oddly more entertaining than the film, which is a bad sign. Their backstories weren’t even in the movie, they were on the extras aka The Ghost Files. All the benign ghosts(Torso, First Born Son, The Bound Woman & The Torn Prince) died in funny ways whereas the malevolent ghosts(The Great Child, The Hammer, The Juggernaut & The Jackal) have Batman type tragedies happen to them and they proceed to go mad in the afterlife. Although to be fair if my family unjustly got lynched, i killed the men responsible for it & the townsfolk proceeded to murder me in a brutal fashion for avenging my family you can bet your bottom dollar I AM HAUNTING people until Allah intervenes and sends me to jannah Himself. The ghost actors portrayed the ghosts well i suppose. Standard love is the answer plot with the Withered Lover(Dead Mom & Wife of the bereaved family.) Good Triumphs over evil (Arthur & Cyrus beef until he gets sliced and diced/falls on his sword like a Disney Villain (Jafar).
