Eu sei que o Scorsese cresceu no catolicismo, então me surpreendeu o quanto que muitas cenas daqui me lembram muito uma igreja evangélica. Nós temos o líder carismático no Jordan Belfort falando num microfone para uma plateia que grita, aplaude, ou até chora. Ele mudou a vida dessas pessoas. E depois vem a estranheza daquela coisa que eles cantam (que tem na cena do McConaughey) que parece uma igreja neopentecostal falando em línguas. Será que o dinheiro, além de uma droga, é também uma nova religião?

Scorses-a-thon So here we are at Wolf of Wall Street, undoubtedly one of Scorsese’s best. And it really highlights how empathetic his movies are. Here’s an asshole that I should absolutely hate, and there are moments where I can really relate or sympathize with him. There are also plenty of ridiculous, out-of-touch moments, but we need these other moments to remind us that this is a real person.  Definitely a spiritual successor to Goodfellas, with many similar ideas and a similar feel. Just about stock brokers instead of the mob. But what’s the difference?

The Wolf of Wall Street • (2013) Just another Scorsese cult classic. The whole story is nothing but a piece of art, and Scorsese presents it with a bright, energetic theme that makes it even more fun to watch. The absurdity in the movie isn’t just random—it works perfectly because of the characters, the situations, and the environment they create. Seriously, Leo didn’t win an Oscar for this? What the hell, man! And talking about Margot—she did an excellent job, bringing both glamour and depth to her role.
