This is the story of how a girl sells her soul to the devil and becomes a witch. I elevated my rating from a 3.5 to a 4 since the last time I saw it back in 2015. Still warming up to the film, but I find the climax and the end scene as nothing short of a fever dream. This gothic folk horror film takes its time, relying strongly on atmosphere to give you the chills. Anya Taylor-Joy's finest hour—because she went totally Hollywood and lost her raw indie edge after The Queen's Gambit. And the boy who played Caleb is incredibly good and easily my favorite character here.

The moment I saw Anya Taylor Joy on the crew, I knew I had to watch this movie and lately I’ve been in the mood for horror films. It’s clear that the film has depth, but the storytelling is extremely weak. There’s no real background to the story, just symbolic religious dialogues that the pessimistic majority wouldn’t understand. I’m not sure what the director was trying to convey, but instead of watching it under the title of a horror or thriller, I think it needs to be viewed from a different perspective. The film is set in the 1630s, and I couldn’t help but notice the English of that period as well hahaha
I was walking to a friends house for New Years and outside my house, there were just two deers in my yard. It scared the shit out of me. So then I walked to my friends house and in their neighbors yard, there were three deer. Guys I think I may be a VVitch

A beautiful family drama that has very creepy aspects on its story and imagery. A lot of thought was put in the dialogue and writing. I loved the atmosphere, and the narrative of a young woman being wrongly accused of sins by her famiky felt very interesting to me.
