Bro what the fuck did the crocodile represent? Would have been better as a tv show as the characters are all incredibly unique, but feel so empty as you only spend 5 minutes with each of them. Honestly, and I hate saying this, this could have been like an entire hour shorter and it would've been so much better. Nothing much happens after the halfway point and everything until then is absolutely phenomenal. Terrence Malick is amazing at portraying love between characters and that absolutely shines through here, but it just felt like a prototype for what The Tree of Life does.
