Always a pleasure to watch a sombre drama/crime that worships the genre as it’s required. No nonsense “based on real life” story written very tightly and it does all the familiar tropes so refreshingly well that it never felt repetitive. Pure loyalty to the crime/drama/thriller genre from beginning to end with a brilliantly subdued lead performances by Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris plus music complimenting beautifully with the atmosphere. Artistic language reminded me of “Hell or high water”. “The stranger” doesn’t have “Hell or high water” kind of a masterful finesse as a whole but it sure is a solid watch overall.
