Slacker art student Alex is suddenly inspired to make a documentary about his friend Gnome's campaign to "free Hawaii." While putting together a motley film crew and unexpectedly stumbling across the girl of his dreams, Maggie, he discovers that Gnome, along with the film's funding are nowhere to be found.
