god, i really do love me some lubitsch! the film is warm and genuinely funny, but there’s also this quiet melancholy running underneath that gives it so much charm. the balance between sweetness and subtle sadness is just perfect. it feels cozy without being fluffy, romantic without being overdone. honestly, it deserves way more love as a holiday classic than it gets. such an easy film to fall into <3
