Taking an ill-advised detour en-route to California, the Carter family soon run into trouble when their RV breaks down in the middle of the desert. Stranded, they find themselves at the mercy of monstrous cannibals lurking in the surrounding hills.

Head and Shoulders over Wes Craven’s first feature. This film has actual effort put into it. It still feels long despite only being 90 minutes, but a lot of movies from this time are like that. Where I wouldn’t recommend The Last House on the Left to anyone, I would recommend this to just about any horror lover. This is the kind of interesting and influential flick that I would expect to be one of Wes Craven’s first films. Rough around the edges for sure, but no more than a lot of other 70s horror. The setting is interesting and there’s even some subtext to be found (crazy). I’m not going to be throwing this on all the time but I could see myself watching it at least once a year.
