I may, in fact, prefer this to Mary Poppins. Too few people have seen this masterpiece, what may be Disney’s greatest live-action film and their very best musical. It’s an interesting look at high society before WW1 and the differences between old and new money and dreams vs destiny. It is endlessly exceedingly charming, and the songs are wonderful. And while this movie has been forgotten by most, if you go to Disneyland and walk down Main Street, you will undoubtedly hear one of these songs.
