Arguably one of the best set designs out there, they truly went all out for the visuals. the sets and costumes, they simply are impeccable stitching together this identity of a fable, quite a sad one, not in terms of events but rather in reasons, as this beautiful tale is told as a leverage, held against the curiosity of little girl's wandering eyes, almost like a ruse rather than a fable. but soon enough it begins reflecting the storyteller’s own turmoils; his inadequacy to live, his feelings of unworthiness, and his desire to give up, to leave the magic behind and drown in that 50-centimeter pool, unwilling to fight back, as the mere act of standing up in that shallow pool would be enough for him to live another day, drowning in his sorrows, despite an easy way out... And that right there, is the most gut wrenching imagery of depression, a salvation so close yet heavy as stone, a power within, but its worthless when there is no will… however its the same innocence that he once took advantage of that returns to deliver his rise, through words that seek wonder, in a tone that pleads for hope, she does what medicines failed to do, she injects the will he much needed within his body. the movie is a window into a creative mind struggling to keep living, after two events that left him broken both outside and inside, he's left alone with nothing but inner voices that seek to end it all, only the yearning innocence of a child could stand against those shadowy figures in his mind. Despite a story that hit close to my heart, it’s the dreamy visuals that struck with me, a colorful world that resembles ours but feels out of reach, it stretches into the realm of wonder, kinda like the spark that exists somewhere within, but remains unattainable...
