The epic saga continues as Luke Skywalker, in hopes of defeating the evil Galactic Empire, learns the ways of the Jedi from aging master Yoda. I only manage to find things I like more every time I watch it. This is one of the few blockbusters I would call a masterpiece.

88/100 Is it considered sacrilegious if I kind off preferred A New Hope over this one? This is an improvement in several areas, don't get me wrong, but I found myself liking it less overall. However, this doesn't mean there isn't a lot to love. When you disregard the issues, which I'll get to, the highs here are peak Star Wars. The practical effects have only improved, resulting in greater action scenes like the Battle of Hoth. However, once again I found myself entranced not by the story or action but the characters. Luke is so much better here than in the previous movie. We get to see his flaws: he's whiny, he's impatient, but he also grows as a character and we see how he's different from the other Jedi, which is both a strength and a weakness.
