After paleoclimatologist Jack Hall is largely ignored by UN officials when presenting his environmental concerns about the beginning of a new Ice Age, his research proves true when a superstorm develops, setting off catastrophic natural disasters throughout the world. Trying to get to his son, Sam, who is trapped in New York City with his friend Laura and others, Jack and his crew must travel to get to Sam before it's too late.

The best part was just emotionless Jake Gyllenhaal for over half of the movie. I kid you not, there's one scene where they're finding out about the horrible storm and their fates to come, and he's just standing there with the blankest expression on his face ( ●__● ) - Oh we might have a very painful death...
I really liked the pacing of this movie, so I was somewhat surprised when it just kind of ended. As much dramatic apocalyptic natural disaster occurs, nothing bad ever really happens to Jake Gyllenhaal or Dennis Quaid. I guess due to plot armor? Compared to how drastic the situation is presented, they kind of have it easy. It probably would have been more interesting if the son was the one who had to cross the country, and the dad was left waiting and wondering if he would make it. Still, there’s a lot of great sets and visuals. It’s really not a bad movie, just left a little disappointed. But I would still watch it again.
