It’s as if the director and editor stuffed the script into a shotgun, pulled the trigger, and had a PA pick up the pieces and try to tape them back together. Erratic and unstable, the entire film feels like one misguided montage. No time to understand each scene, just gotta get to the next one. The script felt like it was written from historically inaccurate anecdotal memory. Michael Shannon is great as always, Cumberbatch seems at odds with himself, and Holt (who I like) isn’t given anything to work with.
