Finney Blake, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

有點沒頭沒尾（？） 但氣氛還不錯啦，小男主角挺帥的
Little gem that has good editing, writing, performances, horrors ideas (Maybe childish at times), and chilling performance by Ethan Hawke. Such movies works superbly when the above technical stuffs that I mentioned and atmosphere is set really well. In that aspect this scores really well and keep that tension intact mostly if not totally. Why not totally is, some of the paranormal elements, may seem clever in terms of editing, but just as an idea it just seemed tad childish. Nonetheless the director somehow makes it a good sandwich between the reality of a psychopath and outer worldly paranormal stuffs.
I Definitely had more of an emotional connection this time around. And while I think this movie has a better story the second film has better atmosphere. In the end it comes out about even for me. These are modern horror classics that I will revisit again and again.
For a coming of age film, this one was sure thrilling. Life does beat you down and forces you to be an adult and to stand up for yourself. One way or another. From an Astrologer POV, this is what it feels like when you go through your Saturn return or when Saturn hits you. 🥲🤣 Halfway through the film and I was like, hold up... This kind of writing is familiar. Stephen King? And it's based on a short story by Joe Hill, King's son. 🥲 Well-done!
