For young Parisian boy Antoine Doinel, life is one difficult situation after another. Surrounded by inconsiderate adults, including his neglectful parents, Antoine spends his days with his best friend, Rene, trying to plan for a better life. When one of their schemes goes awry, Antoine ends up in trouble with the law, leading to even more conflicts with unsympathetic authority figures.

what an experience! in my opinion, the movie is a true masterpiece, almost impossible to improve in any way. it still resonates today because the issues it shows are sadly still around more than 60 years later. troubled kids acting out, but instead of being met with love, patience, and support, they’re answered with repression and hostility. the moment they send him to jail feels like a sharp reflection of that mindset that still exists even now, “oh, you want to be treated like an adult? fine, here’s your punishment.” it’s heartbreaking, powerful, and timeless.
