Just gore

Dopo essere apparentemente morto alla fine del primo film, Art il Clown torna in vita grazie a una forza soprannaturale e ricomincia la sua scia di omicidi nella notte di Halloween. Questa volta prende di mira la giovane Sienna Shaw e suo fratello Jonathan, che sembrano avere un legame misterioso con lui. Mentre gli omicidi diventano sempre più brutali e surreali, Sienna scopre di avere un ruolo fondamentale nello scontro finale con il killer. Sì, dura quasi due ore e mezza. Sì, avrebbe potuto tagliare una ventina di minuti. Eppure mi sono divertito molto più di quanto mi aspettassi. Art il Clown è semplicemente magnetico: ogni volta che è in scena non riesci a staccare gli occhi dallo schermo. È inquietante, assurdo e incredibilmente carismatico senza dire una sola parola. Le uccisioni sono così esagerate da diventare quasi uno spettacolo di effetti speciali, con un livello di gore…

Slightly improved on the first one. I am now convinced that a B-grade look for this comes under “positives”. Even actors are kinda not completely there yet they are completely there if that makes any sense lol. “Art the clown” has to be one of the craziest horror characters I have ever seen. Expectations on the 3rd and latest sequel increased now.

Ok now I get it.  It’s not my cup of tea but I get it. Not quite an evil dead/evil dead 2 comparison but pretty close. I bet midnight showings of this one are fun.  The plot holes, illogical character choices and unevenness are ever present, but the entire movie is held together by Lauren LeVara alone.  It’s one of the better examples of a single performance breathing life and humanity into an otherwise graphic, mindnumbing slasher.  But that’s not unique.  Nearly all the hits have a charismatic scream queen.  Theres gotta be something more … I think I’ve narrowed down what separates Terrifier 2 from other horror films with commanding female leads.  I think it’s that each kill is literally savored by Art the Clown.  Each kill is 5 times longer than your average slasher.  I think it works because your killer is a clown who places everything into a more absurd, cartoon like category.   Ugh I’m going to see Terrifier 3, aren’t I?
