John Ford directed one of my most favorite movies of all time, and yet I’ve only seen a handful of his movies a handful of times. He is regarded as one of the greats, and here it is clear to see why.  This is the kind of story that could have easily been bland and generic, but with its beautiful landscapes, rich characters, and tense and exciting storytelling, it becomes a masterpiece. It takes the tropes and connects them flawlessly together, making this in many ways the definitive classic western.  So many fantastic character actors that really lend this movie so much charm. And of course, John Wayne with his rustic charm.
