Is it any coincidence that Tara watches Dawson's Creek (an easter egg, imo) and one of the characters, named Richie, is a lookalike of Joshua Jackson—who played Pacey in Dawson's Creek (a series created by the same person who co-wrote the first Scream film), and that's how meta you're going to get. I still cannot get over what they did to one of our heroes, and no matter what they say about this film being the best since the first film (hell, no), my number 2 will always be Scream 2. And am I the only one who keeps on wishing that they kill that bitch Tara because she's so annoying. Can we make Sam the next killer? Lol.

Venticinque anni dopo gli omicidi di Woodsboro, una nuova generazione di adolescenti viene presa di mira da un nuovo Ghostface. Mentre i delitti si susseguono, Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) e sua sorella Tara devono chiedere aiuto ai sopravvissuti del passato (Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox e David Arquette) per fermare l’assassino che sembra conoscere molto bene la storia della città e le regole dei film horror. Un ritorno discreto alla saga più iconica degli slasher. Il film funziona bene quando gioca con la nostalgia e con il meta-commento sul genere horror, e le scene con il cast originale (Campbell, Cox, Arquette) sono le più riuscite. I nuovi personaggi sono simpatici, Melissa Barrera è una buona protagonista, e qualche uccisione è efficace. Però la sceneggiatura è un po’ prevedibile e il mistero meno incisivo rispetto ai primi capitoli.
