2 other films of Maya Deren and her way of exploring characters helped me a lot as I was watching this. After that brilliant party sequence, I knew what Daren was trying to say about the character. It’s still a deliciously ambiguous but it’s now full realised ambiguity. If “Meshes” and “At Land” were completely about complex psychological ambiguity then this one is a mixture of psychological and external ambiguity. This mixture allowed me to grasp the character more without the director explaining explicitly (She never explains yet it works, which is always the best part). Loved this again. Daren, you beauty.
