A detective investigates a series of murders. A possible serial killer might be on a rampage, since the crimes are in the same vicinity, by the same method. However, as evidence points towards the detective, a ghost in red follows him, and he begins questioning his identity. His realization of what seems to be reality results in something far larger and more sinister.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa really knows how to create an atmosphere that’s unlike 90% of horror movies. His treatment is very personal and internalised that adds to the creepy environment in the most moral way possible. I don’t think many modern horror directors do this without gore and shock. It’s rare to create this kinda atmosphere and make me cling to this movie throughout without gore or shock. Shock comes differently here. Everything has a reason and even an open ending feels very organic and I started to believe whatever happened or happening is real and scary. This is why Kiyoshi is an absolute GENIUS. I can go on and on about this and can do analysis non-stop. This is almost like a follow up to his earlier popular masterpieces Cure and Pulse. I would love to call this an “ANNIHILATION TRILOGY OF KIYOSHI KUROSAWA” because all the 3 dealt with the core human nature and how it can be scary externally and also internally that could destroy one-self and also others 🙏🙏
