“All the world's a stage,And all the men and women merely players;They have their exits and their entrances,And one man in his time plays many parts,” The world is the stage, and Jeff is the captive audience. In beautifully glorious fashion, Hitchcock has created an entire world in one backyard full of people with complete lives, and we get a glimpse into all of them. Yes, there is a mystery, but that feels almost second to the character drama between Jeff and Lisa.  I knew this was a classic, but I couldn’t believe how thrilling a story like this could be. Especially a story that feels like it’s been done countless times. But you truly feel helpless whenever anything happens, and Jeff is unable to do anything except sit there and watch in horror. Jimmy Stewart is so good in thrillers because of his reputation as an Everyman. You can’t help but put yourself in his shoes. Grace Kelly is really phenomenal as well.

So like, did people in the 50s believe in locked doors?
