love the mundane made interesting and enthralling, love the cast of characters: their wittiness and personality dripping in their dialogues, love the progression of some of the way they develop, love the framing of the scenes especially the window framing when the killer comes back to the room, love the sound design in the background, the effects and the way the classic misdirection of the true villain was not done and not done very tastefully, and love the way Lisa is shown as a hardboilded girl who truly can be a match for Jeff and the moment he realizes, love the nurse and the detective and especially Ms. LonelyGirl whose romance is found in the trues of places: Music- 10/10

“All the world's a stage,And all the men and women merely players;They have their exits and their entrances,And one man in his time plays many parts,” The world is the stage, and Jeff is the captive audience. In beautifully glorious fashion, Hitchcock has created an entire world in one backyard full of people with complete lives, and we get a glimpse into all of them. Yes, there is a mystery, but that feels almost second to the character drama between Jeff and Lisa.  I knew this was a classic, but I couldn’t believe how thrilling a story like this could be. Especially a story that feels like it’s been done countless times. But you truly feel helpless whenever anything happens, and Jeff is unable to do anything except sit there and watch in horror. Jimmy Stewart is so good in thrillers because of his reputation as an Everyman. You can’t help but put yourself in his shoes. Grace Kelly is really phenomenal as well.

So like, did people in the 50s believe in locked doors?
