Unabashedly this is the most stylish poetic justice to all the victims of #MeToo in the most entertaining, dark and twisted manner. Over the years, this is one of those subject in films that has set my mindset regarding how it goes from beginning to end. The typicality of it all. But debutant writer-director Emerald Fennell takes the most trickiest route to tell the story and shattering all the stereotypes by the time it reaches a shockingly satisfying climax that I feel was never done before. It’s highly clever ending that serves as a justice yet taking the dark humour path that weirdly seemed more impactful that I would have never thought if I had read it just on paper.  The tone of such movies have always been very typical, this could have even gone “I spit on your grave” way but thankfully it didn’t reach any kind of such stereotypes and this is why this makes it one of the best films ever made on this subject and of course Carey Mulligan‘s best performance of her career yet. From beautiful cinematography to lovely usage of music to the brilliant episodic way of storytelling and tight editing made it even better.  The movie starts with a song - “I was busy thinkin' 'bout boys, boys, boys Always busy dreamin' 'bout boys, boys, boys Head is spinnin' thinkin' 'bout boys”  I suddenly wondered why the film about a girl named Cassie avenging the death of her best friend who was raped had a beginning song that talked about dreaming about boys and thinking about boys. Ironically the character Cassie is also thinking about boys (To avenge) and at the same time dreaming about boys (Finding true love) and yes her head was constantly spinning too thinking about them and planning her next twisted step.  Just a thought ;)
