I don’t know what it is that’s keeping me from connecting to this movie 100%, but I think that part of it is how rushed the ending feels. And after thinking about that, I can see that being intentional. His cowardice is revealed to us and himself at the same time, and the whole time in space, he’s experiencing this imposter syndrome because he can’t remember who he is or how he got there.  And so maybe it’s reassuring to know in some way that he is a fraud. And so the entire movie is the challenge, and he doesn’t need to struggle with the idea of self-sacrifice at the end as he’s been doing it all along under the assumption he was there by choice.  And by the end, of course, it’s a no-brainer to save Rocky over returning to Earth, but I think there should still be some challenge or hardship. Some cost for taking the moral high ground and accepting the risk. The fact that the universe is saved and everyone lives and it’s all hunky-dory in the space of seemingly 2 minutes isn’t very exciting to me and does not leave me satisfied.

the movie feels like a pretty direct adaptation, just a little less heavy on the hardcore sci-fi, which actually works in its favor given the time constraints. the film still manages to capture all the important elements faithfully. the dynamic between rocky and ryland is handled so endearingly, it genuinely got to me. i wasn’t expecting to get this emotional, but every time gosling teared up, i felt it. i was not prepared for those moments at all. and sandra hüller, as always, delivers a flawless performance as eva stratt :) visually, this film is absolutely stunning. i CAN'T stress that enough! the petrovascope sequence around tau ceti is easily one of the most breathtaking scenes i’ve seen in a while, just completely mesmerizing! and the score by pemberton was such a pleasant surprise, it elevated so many moments beautifully. there’s honestly so much more i could say. every aspect of this film feels thoughtfully crafted and worthy of praise. truly a sublime experience <3 amaze, amaze, amaze!

88/100 Ryan Gosling in a buddy-cop science fiction film about saving the world was not something I knew I needed, but now that it's here, I'm so glad it is. I had, of course, read the book this is based on a while ago, and one of the main strengths of this film is how close it sticks as an adaptation. Dialogue and scenes are lifted seamlessly from the book, and as the book is a great story, this is inevitably the same. The special effects here are off the charts, with almost everything looking really good. Really, the lighting looks reminiscent of an early 2000s movie, which is great, considering that's what I view as one of the best times for colour grading in film. Really, the film is mostly about hope and especially faith in science. The core of the story is that two species face a problem and solve it through the power of science. It goes to some pretty dark places, but never quite…

2001: a space odyssey för normala personer

Really nailed the chemistry between rocky and grace, and that credit goes mostly to Ryan!!!, Man he mostly acted with that thing.... Rocky was my favourite more than Ryan's character, props to the creators behind it and how they presented it... Now coming to other aspects, movie's non linear structure made it really good and how they unfolded each thing. I regret not watching it in theatres but good hope for odyssey( for which I saved my money for), anyways my laptop screen was good enough to appreciate the visuals and make me go wow at some times, but if you overlook there's a good writing there for not leaving much loop holes(based on famous book maybe that's why) but from that look it feels plot was not much broader and it was mostly about character, for those who were comparing it to "Interstellar"(they shouldn't be compared!!) and liked it cause of character dynamics and surely it will stay with me for about some time <3.
