After living in a rural Pennsylvania neighborhood, I can confirm that Roger Deakins has been lying to you this whole time

To me, this film has an amazing parallel between Keller and Loki. Both have the same purpose of trying to find Anna. However, the way they approach it is different. While Loki follows the law and his moral code to find Anna, Keller does anything to find her. Despite how Keller tried to make things easier by doing whatever he felt was needed in order to find Anna, He didn't end up finding her, and Loki did. To me, this film argues against the idea of ends justifying the means. It shows how law and order, is what prevents people from doing awful things, even if it's for the right purpose. This film really moved me, more than most films do. It has excellent preformances from Jackman and Gyllenhall, incredible directing and really immersive cinmeatography, but it's darkness and themes are what make it so memorable to me.

Made me think about Weapons this time. Pretty simple feel. Still incredible. It’s crazy how a movie so “real” could look so good.  Still extremely visceral and haunting. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while.

paul dano getting his ass kicked for nth time just for the plot.

wow, what a ride. the story had me hooked from start to finish—it’s dark, intense, and so well done. hugh jackman absolutely blew me away. he’s so underrated it’s criminal. no one else could’ve played that role with that kind of raw emotion. untouchable. jake gyllenhaal? my darling. always incredible. his performance was so layered and quietly powerful. but can we please talk about paul dano? my cutie patootie was in it so little, but every second he was on screen? chills. he was haunting and heartbreaking and just so good. the whole atmosphere of the film, the direction, the setting, the pacing—it all just worked perfectly. such a gripping film. i need a moment.

Gives you chills man, I don't think Jake Gyllenhall can be at a bad movie.
