that quiet, isolated feeling you get when you go from one place where you don’t fit in to another where you still don’t. wherever Priscilla goes, there’s a light on her and everything else, especially Elvis, is covered in darkness. As time goes on, the framing just makes her smaller and smaller, with just a few glimpses of moments where she takes control of her life.
Priscilla gives you some of the most beautiful shots in 2023, but the feelings her film evoked were that of pure rage (toward Elvis). Being surrounded by the beauty Graceland is meaningless if you’re not free. What a picture! Marty inspired me to mention good companion films. I recommend a double feature with Spencer.
